MedicalDirector recognised that its strong reputation as a leader in health was not reflected in its online presence. The original website was difficult to navigate, misaligned with the organisations’ new brand values, and did not meet the changing needs of its users.
Market leader in digital health
MedicalDirector wanted an enhanced user experience to make it stand out and help key audiences to choose it over its competition.
MedicalDirector wanted to re-imagine the website’s role and differentiate it by addressing; the creation of engaging content, optimising the display for mobile devices, and creating an improved user experience. All this ensured the brand is positioned as the market leader in digital health.
MedicalDirector wanted the website to deliver world-class customer experience, which meant we had to put content at the centre of our strategy and design.
North worked collaboratively with the MedicalDirector marketing team to effectively deliver the website design vision within the requisite time frame. We began by building a strategy and vision that would drive the user experience and inform the design.
Design started with content. The UX design phase was built-up from ‘real’ content. Finally, the visual design brought the full content and experience-led vision to life.
We opted for a component-based design approach which would allow maximum flexibility for the content authors and minimum effort to build new pages and views for emerging devices.

The new MedicalDirector site is brave, confident and bold. It reflects the brand promise – Enable Ideal and constantly seeks to make healthcare more personal.
The visual expression conveys leading edge self-confidence and has now become the benchmark for medical websites.
